Minor anime update

I'm kind of in love with this show. It's interesting, and it keeps getting more complex. I really sat up and took notice when Shirley's father died. Until that point, Lelouch had been treating the war like a chess game. Even worse than that, all the collateral damage (AKA innocent victims)? There weren't even pawns. He just didn't care. But when someone he knew and cared about was hurt, he was forced to realize that it isn't a game. Of course, it hasn't changed his behavior, but at least he's aware now.

Also, episode fourteen made me like Shirley. I didn't dislike her before, it's just that I found her boring. But I really like the complexity she showed in that episode. Of course, who knows what will happen to that complexity now that Lelouch has mind wiped her. (No! Bad Lelouch! I understand that her knowledge was causing her pain, but you can't just go around mind raping people. Or at least, you shouldn't.) And how is that not going to cause trouble? It seemed like she didn't even remember who he was. That's going to seem awfully weird at school tomorrow. Just how much has she forgotten? I should probably watch the next episode and find out, huh?

In addition: who was that masked man? Exactly who C.C. is and where she comes from has so far remained almost completely unexplored, so this is exciting. Also, I found his calling out to C.C. to be oddly adorable, considering what a complete bastard he had just shown himself to be.

In other news, I have made a terrible discovery that will soon bankrupt me: my local Best Buy has a decent anime selection. Yesterday, I bought the first half of Ouran High School Host Club and the third part of Code Geass. Only, now I'm thinking that the latter may have been a bad idea. I bought the regular edition, and from looking on amazon, the special editions are looking cooler and cooler. But expensive. Well, my birthday is in about a month. I think that I'll ask for the special edition part one and see if it's worth it.

Boy, I should be in bed.
